Monday Commentary - Mind and Marriage
My father-in-law continued with the series "How Your Mind Can Mess Up Your Marriage" yesterday in church. We had such a powerful morning of worship together....it was so RICH!!!! There was so much that could be taken from his message yesterday, but one of the things that really spoke to me was that our "HAPPINESS" is not a right....there is absolutely NO PLACE in scripture where God connects our happiness to people, places, or things. Our Happiness comes from a solid, growing relationship with HIM!!! This is one of those things that you can love and hate all at the same time...especially in this day and age. We are all the time expecting someone or something to make us happy..."if we just had this...or if this person would do this....or if I lived there then..." I'm sure you might be able to relate...I sure can!!! This requires a SHIFT in our thinking...and going back to what he shared last week...NOTHING CHANGES until we change the way we think! In our marriages, we must be confident in who God is and know that He loves us perfectly, permanently, powerfully, and passionately....SO, we don't NEED anyone else to fulfill that for us!! And then our happiness is nestled completely in GOD's HANDS and He can do MIGHTY things through that relationship!!
