Hey there!! Sorry this is a couple of days late....it's been a full on week for us here in the Neal household...2 of my favorite boys had birthdays this week...
We had a great few days celebrating with them!! They amaze me and I'm so privileged to be called their momma!!
So as you may already know, Kim challenged us last week to really reflect on how we are doing with LIVING IT OUT! You can read her blog post from last week over at mauneyland.blogspot.com
In response to that I'd like to cover a few things that I do and have been doing daily for quite some time that I believe really help with the "discipline" factor.
1. JOURNAL - I love journalling and it allows me a great outlet to chat and discuss things with God, plus it is a great encouragement of His faithfulness when I can look back at previous entries and see how God has worked in my life in that particular instance.
2. WORSHIP - I turn on some Pandora (usually the elevation and hillsong channel) and PRAY and allow God to speak to me through His word and music. I LOVE THIS TIME!!!
3. DAILY DEVOTION - I have a couple on my phone through YouVersion. One is Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life and the other is HOLY EMOTIONS - Biblical Responses to Every Challenge. I also have the "Jesus Calling" app on my phone by Sarah Young - AMAZING!!!!
So there are just a few ways that I spend time with the Lord. The key is discipline and making sure to stay consistent with it....He is jealous of us and our time...He wants to meet with us!!! I love our AMAZING GOD!! HE is so good to us and can meet us wherever we might be!
Ok, so I have just been rocked to my core by a recent study I am involved in...have you heard of Beth Moore?? Well, I'm doing one of her newest studies..."James" And we just so happened to be on James 1:26-27 this week....coincidence?? I think NOT!!!
It reads:
"If you claim to be religious but don't control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless. Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you."
Oh boy...does anyone else feel a bit intimidated by the word "WORTHLESS"???? You know, we can do all of these things like I listed above and totally MISS it!!! We are simply called to LIVE IT OUT and tend the poor! So, my ask, as we continue on with this theme...is really simple...How am I and how are you doing with simply being the hands and feet of Jesus?? Beth asks in her study workbook, "what makes your heart jump, or even sink?" What specific opportunities are in front of you?
I'm fully convinced that if we focus in and truly answer these questions we can and will find healing and FULFILLMENT through our reaching out and TRULY HELPING OTHERS!!!
I'm excited to hear your thoughts next week...please comment below and tell us what makes you tick and maybe some ideas you have to start implementing into your life to SERVE!
Brittany Xx
