So....my amazing, hot, wonderful, stunning hubby has a very bad injury - they call it a hernia - and he will have to be operated on VERY SOON....I began to look up what "hernia" means "on the google" this morning and it's REALLY GROSS and can be very painful! So, you're probably wondering "why in the world is she telling us this?"
Well, as I was looking up what causes a hernia one of the causes was this:
"hernia's usually occur where the abdominal wall is weakened or thinner, either because the location is already weaker or is made weaker due to a previous intervention." A hernia is basically a bulge in the muscle and it's coming out where it's not supposed to.
I am going to go out on a limb here and make an analogy of my husband's hernia to our spiritual lives =) Let's say for example that the hernia is "us" - how often do we come out where we are not supposed too? How often do we mess up? How often do we become consumed by our struggles that we become a "ball of a mess"? How often do we sell ourselves short based on our circumstances? Well personally, I know I can relate to all of these statements. And just like the hernia is more likely to happen when the abdominal wall is weak or thin, we are more likely to cave into these thoughts as we become weak and thin spiritually.
First and foremost we must understand that Jesus is ENOUGH! His grace is sufficient for each and every single one of us....2 Cor 12:9, but we must also build ourselves up in the word and in our relationship with Him. We must be STRONG so that we can hold fast to the promises that He has given us.....I'm sure when the abdominal wall is STRONG and THICK - the hernia is going to have a LOT more issues trying to "bulge" out....just sayin!
Be encouraged today to get into the word and start a reading plan so you can know more of WHO Jesus is....Let's get STRONG and THICK in the name of Jesus (I know that sounds kind of corny, but I know it rang true for me this morning)
Happy WEDNESDAY!!!
