C...C...C...C...C... - REFLECTIONS

You might be wondering what kind of title is that?!?!  Well, to be honest I couldn't come up with anything clever...so there you have it =)  I've spent the week listening to a podcast by one of my favorite speakers....Christine Caine!  I just absolutely love her bold, intense, passion for God and His Kingdom.  If you didn't get a chance to listen to the podcast yet, you can find it and listen to it HERE .  I had the privilege a couple of months ago to meet Christine and have lunch with her...

Her podcast that we listened to this week really spoke to me and was actually recommended to me by a friend a couple of weeks ago.  The main question that was asked of Christine by her assistant (the questions come from all over - twitter, facebook, blog, etc) was "what are the 5 strengths needed to walk in a leadership position?"

Which brings me to the 'C...C...C...C...C..."
Conviction - serious conviction from the Lord that we are called
Confidence - confident in the conviction and the call in Christ
Commitment - to the Lord and His House (if we are not committed it will be hard to persevere)
Consistency - MANAGE OUR EMOTIONS as WOMEN - without it we won't be taken seriously
Courage - to RISE up and take RISKS

And what amazes me is that she has not heard these questions before and she just shares from her heart - SHE LIVES AND BREATHES IT- LOVE IT!!!

It is such an encouragement and inspiration to me when I hear these 5 C's...she actually goes on to list "compassion" as one at the end too!  But for me, it all goes back to the beginning- CONVICTION....I know personally I have been in and out of seasons in my life where I begin to wonder..."what the heck???" And to be quite honest I am in one of those seasons...I'm almost ashamed to admit it, but its the truth!  We have been through a lot of transition recently and I've found myself resisting the change...have you ever felt that way??  Like you know that you are in the midst of change, but you try everything within your own power to not let it happen...for example - negative attitude, wrong focus, blah blah blah.... OK so maybe you have never done that - it must just be me!  =)

Well this week in my personal time with the Lord, I felt Him nudge me and remind me that He has called me!  He knows exactly where I am! He placed me right where He wants me for this season! He wants to do a NEW thing in me! WOW!!!!!!  I cannot explain the freedom that this brought to me...I just needed a REMINDER (reminder of the conviction I felt 9 years ago when I gave my life to HIM)...

If we can understand the importance of the CONVICTION that each of us are called to....the confidence, commitment, consistency, courage, and compassion will FLOW THROUGH US!!!

Don't forget to check out Kim's thoughts over at Mauneyland and to share yours with us, too!

Next week's topic actually builds on this week's.  Here's the challenge from Kim this week:

Is there something in your life that absolutely bugs you?  Something that breaks your heart that you wish could change?  It could be big or small... not all of us have to be as brave as Christine Cain to tackle a global issue (yet anyway... hee hee) yet there has to be something in your world that could be better.  Taking what we learned last week in this podcast, along with the words found in John 16:33, how can YOU use these things to make a difference?  How can YOU begin to change the world, or even just your current situation if you're unhappy with it?  Draw confidence in CHRIST this week and join us again here next week to share.

  1. Hey sister!
I love your re-cap of the 5 C's! My favorite part of her teaching was on consistency where she says, "I think that any woman is too emotion-driven and too eratic isn't going to be taken seriously. Girls, you've gotta understand that although we have our periods every month, we don't need to bring the effects of that into the boardroom or into the leadership table. You need to be able to rule your spirit; manage your emotion and not allow kind of like 'Oh no it's that time of the month!' Well that's great, but that doesn't need to hinder everyone around you....I think a lot of times a woman isn't taken seriously in a leadership role because there's not that consistency. One day she's up, one day she's down and she allows her emmotions to rule her."

I loved loved loved that she said that and I shouted AMEN at the top of my lungs when I heard it! :)
