WE ARE THE CHURCH....WE ARE THE CHURCH...WE ARE THE CHURCH...
Well, if you got a chance to watch the powerful message that Stovall Weems brought at the All Access Conference a couple of weeks ago...(you can watch the messages from the conference here if you didn't get a chance you MUST have a look and listen ) you would know this was the "anthem" for his message. He is surely a ball of fire and really brought a great word about us as the church. One of the phrases that really stood out to me that I would like to expound on a little was,
"we have to stand up and be a witness with the LIFE of God that is on the inside of us"
As you have gathered from above, we are the church, and God has called each and everyone of us to come into relationship with Him and once we do that we are then commanded to make Him known by LOVING PEOPLE. It's really THAT SIMPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We try and make things really complex and throw a bunch of "rules and regulations" at everyone as Stovall said...and I don't know about you, but rules and regluations make me want to RUN and they make me think, "well I could NEVER live up to all that so why even bother."
This simple statement about the rules and regulations reminded me of when I first got saved and how I was so judgemental of my own precious family - I took on this "holier than thou" attitude and they literally RAN from me (I would have too...just being honest) It wasn't until after I sat back and began to fully understand the cross and what Jesus did for EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US that I began to LOVE them the way Jesus has commanded us to!!!
SO, I say all of that to say, I am challenged to my CORE to BE the church! And it starts with my relationship being full of LIFE in Him so that I can live that out DAY after DAY and make Him known!!! We must LOVE people where they are and LIVE by example!
I know Kim was "on fire" with this message =) PLEASE have a read !!! You will NOT be disappointed. And if you blogged about this message, please link up with us below or leave a comment!
As for next week, I came across this blog by Lysa Terkeurst, and it really struck a chord with me. I think so often in ministry and even in life as women, the word "friendship" becomes very hard to understand and hard to navigate. This was a fresh reminder that we are all a "package deal." I think it would be a great idea to share what we gathered from her blog post and if you are feeling extra transparent maybe a story about a time when you had a "friend situation" and how God used that to grow and challenge you!
(PLEASE OMIT ALL NAMES)
Have a FANTASTIC week!!!
